Ordered from: Dean Cooke, Manuscripts & Rare Books, D 9255, 2018-11-14, email inquiry, ref. 7660. From dealer's description: "17th century heraldry manuscript entitled, "Baronets Created by King James I." [&] "Baronets Created by King Charles the First" [&] "Baronets Created by King Charles The Second". [England. Circa 1680]. Folio, 32 pages, ruled in red. Outer corner of first leaf torn and repaired, paper softened, browning and damp staining throughout. 18th century marbled wrappers and blank endpapers. Watermark to text is: Fleur de lis with counter mark "JD". Not found in Haewood or Briquet. The endpapers (watermarked "pot") and marbled wrappers have been added later. They are not trimmed to quite the same dimensions and do not have the same staining and soiling as the main text. The collections include the names, dates, and counties, together with descriptive details of the coats of arms granted, e.g. "Feb. 16. Tho. Philips of Barrington Esq. Argent. a cheuron betw, 3. Roses Gules. Somers.", "May. 28. Thomas Hale of Fleet Esq. Argent. 5. Lozenges in pale Gules on the this a Leopards head or. Deuon.", etc."
