Folger-specific note
From dealer's description: "A nice early example of a Scottish lawyer's book in good original condition. Mostly written in English or Scots with some sections in Latin, containing exemplars of "gift of tutorie", "oblivgatioun be way of contract", "charters of recognition", "gifts of escheat", "back-bonds", "dispositions", "instruments of consignation", "contracts", "chartour of alinatioun of lands with precept of seasing", "charters of excambioun", "obligatioun by way of contract", etc. This manuscript would have been an essential tool for the practising lawyer, providing them with a consistent and time -saving template for each subject. These documents now provide a useful insight into contemporary practices in the early modern period and the gradual formation of modern law." Ordered from Dean Byass, D9203, 2018-05-10, Battersea Bibliolater (London Book Fair 2018 catalog), item 9.
