Folger-specific note
From dealer's description: "The victim’s account of an assassination attempt, a most unusual subject in Renaissance printed literature: ONLY EDITION. With his cavalry company, Piovena attacked the author, his one-time friend, charging on horseback, firing shots and engaging in sword play. Left for dead, Riminaldi survived and sought justice, in part by publishing these seven ocuments, one by his brother Ippolito (1520-89), the civil and criminal jurist. I have located four other copies, all in Italy, and only one earlier such Justification (I can’t tell if it concerns homicide). In good condition, from the marvelous library of bibliophile and art historian Leonardo Trissino (1780-1841)." Ordered from Bruce McKittrick, D 9190, 2018-03-28, email quote.
