Summary
Proclamation issued "By the king" (i.e., Charles I) during the English Civil War and signed by Samuel Turner commanding "every congregation, church, chappel, and place of publik worship" to continue using the book of common prayer instead of the directory for public worship, which Parliament had ordained be used for worship earlier that year.
