Manuscript genealogical and provenance notes on front fly-leaf, tracing ownership: Amy Milliet, bapt. 1714; "now" Mrs Newman, 1774; gift to her niece Mary Chapman, August 1777. Armorial bookplate (motto: Bono animo esto): Frederic Morrell of Broughton Grange in the County of Oxford, Esquire, 1886. Ruled in red throughout. In contemporary inboard black leather (goatskin) binding, with onlays in red, citron, pale yellow, and blue-green goatskin; fore-edge painting in red, green, and black under gilt edges, inscribed "Search the Scriptures 1682"; marbled endpapers; early silver corners, centerpiece and clasps with maker's mark 'CB'.
