Summary
From seller's description: In the 1570s and 1580s Wardour and Petre were engaged in an ongoing quarrel precipitated seemingly by Wardour’s opinion of the superiority of his post over that of tally writer, coupled with his concern over loss of fees due to him for the production of constats (certified copies concerning Exchequer matters) through circumvention and malpractice by Petre and changing customs in the Exchequer in the administration of tallies.
