Copy 2 From dealer's description: "Broadside, folio, fine woodcut Coat of Arms at head, woodcut initial letter, some usage and surface rubbing at old fold, margins frayed in places, and some dustiness, has been folded, printed one side as issued, with manuscript notes on verso. Exceedingly rare. Issued on behalf of the King by Dawe, this appeal to the nation’s Church officials was for a fund to rebuild Rippon Collegiate Church, one of the most famous churches in the North of England. Rippon Church was dissolved and fell into disrepair under Cromwell’s Commonwealth but was refounded in 166o by Charles at the Restoration. The steeple and chancel collapsed in 1660 at the time of a great storm. It was unusual for a monarch to issue a personal appeal for such restoration work, which underlines the great regard held by the King towards this Church.." Copy 2 Ordered from: A. R.
