Folger copy: bound in 1 v., retaining blank leaves b7, A1 and A2; leaf a1, blank, lacking; edges trimmed affecting some of the manuscript notes. Miniature half-length portrait in initial, in gold and color with monochromatic effect (mostly purple, brown or pink) at the beginning of each Life; smaller initials also painted in colors; coat of arms of the Forcrand family from Bourg-en-Bresse (chief or, azure, a lion rampant or), possibly added at a later time, in a wreath at foot of leaf a2r. Several paragraphs at end of both vols., in an early hand, relating the fall of Granada in 1492, the 1505 epidemic of plague in the city of Bourg-en-Bresse near Lyon with other events taking place in Bourg between 1505 and 1515, signed "Calixtus Forcrandus"; several autographs reading "[?] Mongez"; early manuscript notes throughout the book in 2 hands (the earlier one being Calixtus Forcrandus', the later one dated 1570 at end of vol. 2) with manicules and brackets; bookplate of Mr. and Mrs. H. Dunscombe Colt. In a later calf binding with a wreath gold tooled on both covers; previous repairs; edges stained brown. Gift of Mrs. H. Dunscombe Colt.
