1st leaf, blank, lacking. Initials decorated in colors on leaves b1r (9 lines) and r5r (7 lines); leafy border coming out of a figure on leaf b1r; other main initials in blue paint with red penwork infill; the smaller initials and paragraph marks provided in red throughout the book. A few annotations and references to leaf numbering in index, in brown ink. Twenty colored vellum tabs in alternate red and green (a few lacking) throughout the book; on a few of the leaves bearing the tabs, evidence of older tabs, now lacking; a vellum "Turk's head knot" on leaf b1. Bookplate of W.T. Smedley; purchased in 1924.
