Edges have been cropped, affecting some manuscript notes; ink spot on leaf [2nd]a6 affecting text; large tearing in leaf [2nd]a1 has been repaired, with loss of text. Extensive early manuscript notes, interlineary in text and marginal in commentary, in brown ink, in several hands (a few notes, and a large initial on leaf [1st]A1r in red ink); text erasions and corrections, manicules, and underlining in brown ink. Later binding, repaired. Ownership inscription at head of title page "B. Dockray 1820"; bookplates of Charles Butler (no. 191 in the Sotheby sale catalog of his library, April 1911) and of W.T. Smedley; purchased in 1924.
