Extra-illustrated with 86 photographs documenting the cast and scenery of Augustin Daly's 1888 production of A midsummer night's dream and 41 original costume designs, likely the work of Théophile Thomas, as well as 7 letters to Daly concerning the production, 7 broadsides and playbills for earlier (mostly American) productions, 2 programs for the Daly production printed on satin, 160 illustrations, and the text of the play in seven leaves from the second folio of 1632. Letters and costume design drawings cataloged separately. Leaves inlaid on larger paper (44 cm) by Augustus Toedteberg. Half leather binding with marbled paper boards; binder's stamp: Stikeman & Co. Included in the sale of Augustin Daly's collection, American Art Galleries, March 19, 1900 (cat. no. 730). Armorial bookplate (motto: Deus clypeus meus) of Livingston Ludlow Biddle.
