Die Feder oben schwebt, zu Ehr und Ruhm erhebt. Ulricus Hofmannus Arithmeticus, Geomet. etc. aetat LIX an MDCLXIX. [Nuremberg], 1669. Portrait (310 x 198 mm) engraved by Jacob von Sandrart; the portrait is surrounded by calligraphic ornamentation, with two four- line calligraphic laudatory verses by Sigmund von Birken below, and two putti at top holding scientific tools and instruments; very good impression. Fine portrait of the mathematician and calligrapher Ulrich Hofmann (1610-1682) who was also famous for his collection of scientific instruments and a choice library. The portrait was engraved by Jacob von Sandrart after a drawing by Panzer. It is the only known contemporary portrait of Ulrich Hofmann. "
