Summary
Cartoon depicting Europe personified in the character of Miranda with Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte portrayed as Prospero, both dressed in Romantic medieval clothing. The two stand on a height, overlooking a sea with waves labeled Servia, Denmark, Schleswig, Prussia, Greece, Danube, Mexico, and Italy. Europe/Miranda stands at Bonaparte/Prospero's shoulder, holding his arm beseechingly. Caption title: "Miranda and Prospero." Caption dialogue: "Miranda (Europe). 'If by your art, my dearest Louis, you have put the wild waters in this roar, allay them.'" Intiials of John Tenniel in lower left corner.
