Lawyer's protocol book, largely in English (or Scots) with some sections in Latin, containing exemplars of marriage contracts (two examples), back-bonds, dispositions, instruments of consignation, contracts on a bargain of meal, and much else; the fly-leaf bearing the ownership inscription of Alexander Steuart, notary public, and with names of others of the family; the first leaf inscribed, amongst other jottings, with the titles and offices of Charles Stewart, third Duke of Richmond (1639-1672); with drafts for a Charles II diploma for the honours and dignities owing to Alexander Lyndsey of Evlick, 12 August 1666 [2nd baronet, d.1695].
