Folger-specific note
From dealer's description: "FIRST and ONLY EDITION. Poem in six cantos of octava rima on the subject of the entry of King Philip III of Spain [Philip II of Portugal] into Lisbon in 1619. The Hapsburg king was genuinely popular in Portugal at this time. In a note to his translation of Ticknor’s History of Spanish Literature, Pacual de Gayangos described this work as “obra de bastante ingenio, escrita en octavas fáciles y armoniosas ….” A native of Setúbal, the author was a lawyer who had studied both civil and canon law with distinction at Coimbra University. Mausinho is sometimes catalogued as Mousinho, Quevedo as Quebedo, and Castel-Branco as Castelo-Branco, Castelbranco or Castelobranco." Ordered from Richard C. Ramer, D 8921, 2015-10-05, Special List 215, item 9.
