The political squib by Sheridan was directed at George Pretyman, tutor, friend and confidant of the William Pitt the Younger and latterly Bishop of Lincoln and Winchester. 20 lines with revisions and scansion markings, inscribed “R.B. Sheridan’s hand writing given to me by T. [?J.] W. July 7th 1828. W. Bartholomew”. Verses identified as Sheridan’s beginning “Ah! Call me not an inconstant Cloe...”
