Begun at Oxford in May 1652 as an academic notebook with entries on theology and an oration (leaves 1-8; upside down on leaves 89v-92v). The majority of the notebook is a medical miscellany containing extracts from Richard Tomlinson's translation of Jean de Renou's Dispensatorium medicum, Noah Biggs' Mataeotechnia medicinae praxeōs, Galen, Angelo Sala, Francis Glisson, Guillaume Rondelet, and Andreas Tentzel. The volume contains many contemporary scriptae and praescriptae, as well as dicta (either notes from reading or lectures) on interpreting the pulse, on critical days, and on tumors. Also includes sections on law, consisting of excerpts from Sir Thomas Ridley's A view of the civile and ecclesiastical law and Maxims or rules in law (leaves 39r-41v, 50r-51r).
