Ruled in red throughout. Armorial bookplate (motto: Maganamiter crucem sustine): Bibliotheque Grace Whitney Hoff. In a contemporary purple velvet binding heavily embroidered with gold and silver thread; tiny pearls and sequins (some missing); edges gilt. Early 20th-century printed bookseller's description mounted on fly-leaf "this fine specimen of English embroidered bookbinding was exhibited in the Manchester Exhibition as having been at one time the property of King Charles I."
