Plate previously published as illustrating notes to Titus Andronicus in Tallis's Shakspere gallery of engravings (intended as a supplementary volume to editions of Shakespeare, or to illustrate existing editions of the Works).
According to National Portrait Gallery, depicted during a performance at the Britannia Theatre, Hoxton in 1852 (NPG).
Same plate originally published by John Tallis & Company of London and New York, whose stock was acquired by The London Printing and Publishing Company around 1854.
