Summary
A young woman stands, turned half l., before an open window, her head covered with a dark veil which falls over her face. She wears a very low-cut bodice with a lace collar falling to her elbows, and with puffed, slashed sleeves with turned back lace cuffs. In her r. hand she holds a half-opened fan over her breast, and her l. hand, holding gloves, rests on the table, on which are two melons. A curtain behind is looped up, showing a view of Lambeth and Westminster, such as might have been seen from Arundel House where Hollar at this time was probably lodged.--Adapted from Pennington.
