Scope and content
Autograph letters and drafts signed by Charles John Kean. Many are theater related, containing Kean's opinions about Shakespeare, his own acting abilities in contrast to his father's, and theater management. In many of the letters, Kean also expresses his unhappiness and a desire to retire from acting and management. A few letters in the hand of Ellen Kean and others. Some items undated.
