Scope and content
Contains incomplete part book of motets, chansons, madrigals, anthems and instrumental works. Motets, madrigals and chansons lack text underlay. Most anthems include text underlay, identifying them as five-part compositions with only cantus parts, lacking altus, tenor, bassus and quintus. Composers include William Byrd, Alfonso Ferrabosco the Elder, Orlande de Lassus, Edward Blankes, Claudio Merulo, Christopher Tye and Matthew Jeffries. Also, original vellum wrapper consists of non-music medieval manuscript fragments.
