Scope and content
Scored for keyboard and voice. Book compiled by four different scribes in the late eighteenth century. Contents include J.E. Galliard's setting of Congreve's Reconciliation, A. Corelli's 7th sonata, R. Leveridge's Macbeth (attributed to Purcell); excerpts from several of G.F. Handel's oratorios and harpsichord pieces; and miscellaneous theatrical songs, such as Arne's setting of a song in Milton's Comus.
Note
The Macbeth is not based on Boyce's edition of 1770; cf. W.b.540. For a discussion of the attribution to Leveridge see cards under Leveridge for "The music in Macbeth" (W.b.537).
