Prose and poetry, almost all of it of the eighteenth century and mainly the late eighteenth. At the head of p. 1 is written, in the hand in which many of the extracts are written, "Miss Elizabeth Gilchrist's Collection." The extracts are in several hands, none identified except the first. Near the end of the volume is an extract from Byron's Childe Harold (1812) and one from Scott's Waverley (1814). Foliation includes 31 blank leaves.
