The manuscript was sold as the compilation of Sir William Bromley (1664-1732) of Baignton in Warwickshire (Sotheby, December 7, 1904, no. 166) whose bookplate (British Museum, Franks coll., I, 3865), appears in the book. On the spine, however, a mutilated label has part of J. Wright's name and a hand-drawn bookplate, in a position which suggests priority, bears the Wright arms.
