Note
Ma. D. is Martin Droeshout.
Close copies of XII sibyllarum icones elegantissimi by Crispijn van de Passe the elder, with a reversed Sibylla Aegyptia.
In the imprint, "Sould" is formed with evenly-spaced letters spelling "Sold" and a tiny superscript capital 'V' inserted between the 'o' and 'l'.
Publication date from ESTC.
STC mistakenly designates this an 8vo, based on a heavily trimmed title page fragment.
Wholly engraved on watermarked pot paper; printed on rectos only.
Unsigned. Conjectured gatherings based on watermark and deckle evidence: pi1 [1⁴] [2⁶] [3²]; however, the title page and leaf 12 may be conjugate and leaf 11 an insertion.
Each sibyl is in a medallion, under which is a loose English verse translation of the associated oracle, and four lines of verse in a narrow band around each medallion giving a specifically Christian interpretation.
