Note
George III fan, the ivory sticks are pierced and carved with miniature figures. Mount decorated with hand painted watercolour representing the marriage scene in Henry V; back painted with medallion of flowers in border of green leaves.
Artist identified by dealer, Gabriel Wells as "possibly the work of W. Hamilton, the famous illustrator of the Boydell Gallery Shakespeare."

Purchased through Gabriel Wells, April, 1925. Mrs. Folger is depicted holding this fan in the portrait by Frank O. Salisbury that hangs in the Old Reading Room (FPb58). Fan was mis-identified ca. 1980 as depicting the King, Imogen, Stepmother, and Posthumus from Cymbeline.
