Scope and content
Contemporary copy of letter concerning Thomas Cromwell's role in the dissolution of the abbeys in England. Norton sends his commendations to Mylles' master, Sir Francis Walsingham and then responds to Mylles' query about "the course that king henry kept in dissolution of abbies," apologizing that he has "vtterly no notes or writinges whervpon I am hable to ground any instructions," but will provide what little information he has read and heard. Norton discusses Thomas Cromwell's role, and mentions "the play in france wherin were shewed the Emperor and the french king playing at tennise and the king of England paying for the balles," and "the booke called the black booke expressing of euery suche house the vile lyves and abhominable factes in murders of their bretheren in Sodomies, in whordomes in destroying of children in forging of deedes..."
