The emblems are printed from plates originally engraved by Crispijn van de Passe the elder for Gabriel Rollenhagen's Nucleus emblematum selectissimorum (Arnheim, 1611) and Emblematum centuria secunda (Arnheim, 1613). All engravings are integral to letterpress gatherings.
With an additional title page, engraved, "Emblemes. Illustrated by Geo. Wither.", signed: VVill. Marshall. sculp.
The first leaf bears "A preposition to this frontispiece".
Imprimatur on verso of title page: Recensui hoc poëma ... Ex aedibus Lambithanis Ilu. 2. 1634. Guil. Bray.
The second (I4r), third (S4r), and fourth (2D4r) books each have a separate title page, with imprint "printed by Augustine Matheuues. MDCXXXIV [1634]"; pagination and register are continuous.
With slip-cancels on leaves P1r and P4v.
The last leaf bears two woodcut dials each with a movable pointer fixed in the center.
