Provenance
Provenance: From the Burdett-Coutts sale auctioned by Christie, Manson and Woods, May 4-11, 1922, lot no. 454. See Burdett-Coutts folder, Art Provenance File. Purchased through Rosenbach Co., Philadelphia, by Philip H. Rosenbach for L9/9/-. See letter to HCF, May 19, 1922, from this file. A catalog for this sale can be found in Auction Catalogs. A typescript from the catalog is in the Burdett-Coutts folder. Both wrongly identify wood as mulberry. Card in Mrs. Folger's card file under Mulberry also misidentifies wood.
